Naches Train Depot Visitor’s Center

From Memorial Weekend thru Labor Day Weekend the historic Naches Train Depot serves as a Visitors Center sponsored by the Naches Valley Chamber of Commerce. Kaitlyn Young, a Naches High School graduate, is hosting the center for her third season this summer. The Visitor’s Center hours are Monday thru Thursday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The goal of the Naches Chamber is to dispense information to visitors about our area.

There have been a lot of new features added since the Train Depot’s renovation unveiling on June 20, 2008. Two covered picnic areas with additional parking have been completed on the south west side of the Depot. The City of Naches is working on additional lawn area along Orchard Street and a sidewalk with street lamps along Second Street to Penny Avenue.

In addition, the most westerly end of the Greenway Path begins at the Train Depot and travels 3.5 miles east. The Yakima Greenway is working on receiving a grant that would enable them to pave another 3.5 miles leaving only about 4 miles to hook up with the Path at 40th Avenue in Yakima. Imagine being able to walk or ride your bike from Naches to Sarg Hubbard Park or the Yakima Area Arboretum. What a wonderful addition to Downtown Naches!

I hope you will visit us at the Train Depot and check out the historic renovated building. You can also come by anytime and enjoy the picnic areas, the landscaped exterior, and maybe take a stroll down the Greenway Path.
